'Operation Toofan 2.0'—a mass campaign at the panchayat level—has been launched.

The inauguration of 'Operation Toofan 2.0'—a public anti-drug campaign—was held at the Chovvannur Grama Panchayat Hall at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 28, 2026. 'Toofan 2.0' marks the launch of the second phase of 'Toofan: The Narco Hunt,' a flagship initiative of the State Government, within the Chowannur Grama Panchayat.
To completely curb the spread and use of narcotic substances, the Kerala Police and the Local Self-Government Department have jointly decided to implement 'Operation Toofan 2.0' with extensive public participation. Preventing the spread of narcotics requires not only preventive measures but also widespread awareness campaigns and robust monitoring at the local level.
Mr. A.M. Nidheesh, President of Chowannur Grama Panchayat, inaugurated the 'Toofan 2.0' project at the panchayat level. Vice President Smt. Sabetta Varghese delivered the welcome address. Mr. Ashly John, ASI (Kunnamkulam), presented the project details and distributed the 'Toofan' badges. Panchayat members Mr. K.P. Surendran, Smt. Jisha Anil, Smt. Shaharban, Smt. Neethu K.S., Mr. Anoop Balan, Mr. Shafi M.A., Smt. Aiswarya, and Smt. Sujeesha P.G. were present at the event. As part of the inauguration of the 'Toofan 2.0' project, Mr. A.M. Nidheesh, President of Chovvannur Grama Panchayat, hoisted the 'Toofan' flag. Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, Health Inspector Mr. Ajay Ghosh administered the 'Toofan' pledge. Subsequently, the 'Toofan Warrior' announcement, the distribution of 'Toofan Warrior' badges, and a video screening took place. Panchayat employees, elected representatives, Haritha Karma Sena members, Anganwadi workers, teachers, and youth participated in the anti-drug public awareness campaign. Ward member Lissy Joy delivered the vote of thanks.
